COMPLETE RESULTS

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Columbia track & field teams opened the season Sunday, Jan. 20 with the annual Ivy League tri-meet against Dartmouth and Yale. The Lions' women combined for 60 points to take second place, while the Columbia men scored 42 points to finish third.

Nineteen women's entries and 13 men's entries scored points for the Lions. The Columbia women combined for seven first-place finishes and the Columbia men also posted five first-place showings.

The field events began the day and the Columbia women captured an early victory in the weight throw with Nnenna Okwara at 16.40m. Uju Ofoche won the long jump with a leap of 5.79m to lead the Columbia domination in the jumping events. Nadia Eke won the women's triple jump with a leap of 12.57m and Addy Sonaike placed second with a leap of 11.91m.

Marvellous Iheukwumere lead the Lions with two first place finishes on the day as she took the 60m dash with a time of 7.60 and the 200m dash in 24.90 seconds. Ashley Cunningham also placed second in the 200m dash at 25.50 seconds to add points for Columbia.

The women's 60m hurdles went to first-year Iris Chijioke, crossing the line at 8.92 seconds. The women's 4x400m relay of Morlu, Parker, Alexander, and Hale combined for a first-place time of 3:59.35 seconds. The squad of Rathbun, Krasinski, Simonson, and Bills posted a runner-up finish in the 4x800m relay to add to the success for the Lions in the relay events.

First-year Chancelor Griffin grabbed an individual title in the men's field events taking the triple jump with a leap of 13.82m. The mid to long distance events has become a staple for the Lions grabbing wins in the 500m run, 800m run and 1000m run. Kevin Boyd won the 500m dash with a time of 1:05.26 seconds, followed  by Taylor Click in second at 1:05.62. Denzel Woode won the 800m run with a time of 1:56.12 seconds with Sam Miner placing second at 1:56.72 seconds. The 1000m run saw the same success with Mark Feigen taking the win at 2:27.00 seconds and John Gregorek taking second at 2:27.29 seconds.

Feigen also helped the Lions grab a win in the 4x800m relay. The 4x800 squad of Feigen, Connor Claflin, Harrison McFann and Brendon Fish won in a time of 7:39.63 seconds.
