NEW YORK ? The Columbia volleyball team will play its third straight match on the road when it travels to Ithaca, New York, for an Empire State showdown with Cornell Saturday, Oct. 25 at 2 p.m. live on the Ivy League Digital Network.?

Lowdown on the Lions
Columbia looks to snap a three-match skid that put the Lions at 7-9 overall and 3-4 in the Ivy League.?
Bailey Springer continues to be a force for Columbia's offense as the junior sports the third-best kills per set average (3.33) in the conference after posting five straight double-digit kill performances. Anja Malesevic has shined throughout conference play for the Lions as the first-year adds 2.19 kps while junior Katarina Jovicic, who boasts a .343 hitting percentage, contributes 2.00 kps. Sophomore Jennifer Petrovich has been Columbia's staple setter as the sophomore hands out 9.48 aps, good for third in the Ancient Eight.?
Columbia excels at the net as the Lions sport the top blocks per set average in the league with 2.28 bps as Jovicic leads the way with 1.13 bps, a conference best. Columbia's defense also sees the third-best blocks per set from sophomore Kesi Neblett as senior Charlee Dryoff adds the fourth-best digs per set amongst the Ivies (4.46).?
Where We Stand
After playing each of its Ancient Eight opponents Columbia heads into the second cycle of play tied with Brown and Penn for fifth with a 3-4 Ivy League ledger. Yale owns the top spot with a 6-1 mark while Harvard is one match behind in second with a 5-2 record. A 4-3 record has Dartmouth and Princeton knotted in third while Cornell closes out the standings at 0-7.
Breaking Down the Big Red
Cornell remains in search of its first Ivy League win and will enter play Saturday with a 3-14 overall record and a 0-7 mark in the Ancient Eight. Emily Wemhoff has paced the Big Red's attack with 2.90 kps with Maddy Sroufe adding 2.72 kps to the offense. Natasha Rowland's league leading 5.46 dps leads Cornell's defense that also sees 1.00 bps from Macey Wilson. Alyssa Phelps has handled the Big Red's setting duties with 8.67 aps.
Inside the Series with Cornell
Entering its 60th?meeting with Cornell, Columbia looks to sweep the Big Red in 2014 to mark the third time in four seasons that the Lions swept its Empire State rival in a calendar year. All-time Columbia trails the series, 11-48.?
In the team's first meeting in 2014, Columbia posted 14 total blocks led by nine by Katarina Jovicic en route to a 3-1 victory.

Last Time Out
Columbia dropped a hard fought four-set match to four-time defending Ivy League Champion Yale at the Lee Amphitheater Saturday, Oct. 18. The loss came by set scores of 23-25, 23-25, 25-22 and 22-25.
Junior Bailey Springer registered double-digit kills for the fifth straight match and 10th time this season in the defense, finishing her night with 13 kills on a .303 hitting clip. The junior also tallied five digs and three blocks. Sophomore Kesi Neblett contributed 10 kills off a .450 hitting percentage and five blocks. First-year Anja Malesevic also turned in 10 kills while sophomore Zoe Jacobs and Katarina Jovicic recorded nine each.
Sophomore Jennifer Petrovich chipped in her third double-double of the season with 37 assists and 12 digs as senior Charlee Dyroff added to the defense with 27 digs. At the net, Jovicic led the way with eight blocks.

Block Party
Columbia has dominated the net this season and most recently posted 21 total blocks against Harvard, Oct. 11, the most since recording 32 versus Princeton in 1991. The Lions have turned in double-digit blocking totals four times this year to lead the league with 2.28 bps.
Katarina Jovicic has been a staple at the net for Columbia this season as the junior leads the league and team with 1.13 bps. Kesi Neblett is not far behind as the sophomore posts 0.94 bps the third-best average among the Ivies.?
High Percentage
Katarina Jovicic hit a season-high .571 in the team's 3-2 setback at Connecticut, registering eight kills on 14 attempts with no errors. Jovicic's career-best hitting clip of .583 came Sept. 14, 2012 against Colgate (17-324). Currently the middle hitter ranks third in the Ivy League with a .343 hitting percentage and has hit over .300 in 11outings. The Lions rank fifth in the conference with a .201 percentage.?
Setting It Up
As the Lions' primary setter,?Jennifer Petrovich has dished out the third-best assists per set average in the league with 9.48 handouts to lead Columbia to a .201 hitting percentage, which lands fifth in the Ivy League.?
Breaking Records
Charlee Dyroff broke into the Lions record book Saturday, Oct. 11 when the senior recorded 18 digs to push her career total to 839 displacing Cindy Chen's '11CC 829 figure. Dyroff, who averages the fourth-best digs per set average in the conference (4.46 dps), needs 17 digs to move into fourth place on Columbia's career list.
Club 1,000
Jennifer Petrovich became the newest member of Columbia's 1,000 assist club at Princeton Saturday, Oct. 4 when the sophomore set Caitlin Cole up for a kill in the second set versus the Tigers. Petrovich became the first player to eclipse the 1,000-assist plateau since Kelsey Mussleman '13CC did so in 2010.?
Seeing Double
A trio of Lions have each contributed two double-double performances this season; Atlanta Moye-McLaren, Jennifer Petrovich and Bailey Springer. Moye-McLaren and Petorvich lead all current Lions with 12 in their career.?

All-Tourney
Atlanta Moye-McLaren was named Most Valuable Player at the Columbia Invitational and classmate Katarina Jovicic earned a spot on the all-tournament team after the duo helped the Lions go 3-0. Jovicic picked up her second all-tournament team accolade of the season when the middle hitting was selected to the UConn Classic team Sept. 20.?
Hall of Famer
Columbia volleyball will see its first former player inducted into the Columbia University Athletics Hall of Fame this October as Kathy Lavold '03BC has been bestowed the honor. The three-year letterwinning middle blocker etched her name throughout the Lions' record book and was a crucial member of Columbia's winningest season in 2000.?
