NEW YORK - The Columbia football team dropped a 27-7 decision to Dartmouth on Homecoming Saturday afternoon at Robert K. Kraft Field at Wein Stadium.

Junior defensive back Trevor Bell intercepted two passes and had nine tackles to earn John Toner Homecoming Player of the Game honors. Bell becomes the first Lion to intercept two passes in a game since Andam Mehrer did so against Brown in 2009.

Junior Cameron Molina caught six passes for 102 yards to pace the offense.

Dartmouth took the opening kick off and efficiently moved into Columbia territory. On 2nd-and-8 from the 33, Alex Park pitched the ball to Kyle Bramble on an option play and Bramble took it all the way to put the Big Green ahead, 7-0, with 11:41 left in the first quarter.

A 29-yard field goal by Dartmouth's Alex Gakenheimer with 2:45 to go in the first made it a two-score game.

In the second quarter, Park connected with Victor Williams on a slant pattern for an 11-yard touchdown pass to extend the margin to 17-0 with 10:25 before the half.

Bell picked off his second of the game with a nice over the shoulder grab to start the Lions' into Dartmouth territory. Facing a the 4th-and-14 from the 27, Molina came up with a clutch back-shoulder grab to move inside the 10 and two plays later Trevor McDonagh connected with Andrew Dobitsch, who fell across the plane for his first career touchdown at the 3:44 mark of the second

However, the Big Green used a big return on the ensuing kickoff to drive 39 yards and Williams caught his second TD of the game to restore the 17-point cushion at the half.

The third quarter saw the teams trade punts and turnovers and the only score was a 24-yard field goal by Gakenheimer with 1:18 left in the frame.

Columbia looked to chip away on its first drive of the fourth quarter, using a 48-yard completion to Molina to set up a new set of downs at the Dartmouth 14. After an incompletion, Vernon Harris picked off a pass to keep the Lions off the board.

The Lions are back in action next Saturday, Nov. 1 when they entertain Yale in a 12:30 p.m. contest.
