
Women's Tennis Competes at Princeton Invitational

PRINCETON, N.J. - The Lions doubles teams put on impressive showings as the Columbia women's tennis team continued its fall slate at the Princeton Invitational at the Tigers' Lenz Tennis Courts in Princeton, New Jersey, this weekend.
Two Lions tandems posted 1-2 records in the weekend event. Junior Kanika Vaidya and first-year Alexandra Solovyev downed South Carolina's pair of Katie Fosnacht and Alex Martin (8-1), but fell to Duke's pair of Annie Mulholland and Samantha Harris (8-3) and Princeton's Amanda Muliawan and Emily Hahn (8-2). The first-year duo of Rima Asatrian and Adi Milstein bested Alison Mills (South Carolina) and Emily Saffron (BC), 8-3, before falling to Rachel Kahan and Rebecca Smaller (Duke), 8-7 (2) and Joan Cannon and Caroline Joyce of Princeton, 8-5.
Vaidya also teammed up with Asatrian on the doubles court. The 41st-ranked pair beat Penn's Sonya Latycheva and Kana Daniel.
In singles, Alice Song led the way for Columbia with a 2-1 record while five Lions posted idential marks as Vaidya, the 85th-ranked player, Asatrian, Vivian Cheng, Solovyev and Milestein each posted 2-2 records.
After a two week break, Columbia returns to action at the ITA Northeast Regional Championships Oct. 17-21 at New Haven, Connecticut.
