SAMMAMISH, Wash. - Coming fresh off of a win at Penn State, the Columbia women's golf team earned a seventh place finish at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational, hosted by the University of Washington.
The Lions and the rest of the field played only 36-holes, due to morning fog shortening the tournament. The host team ran away from the competition, shooting a 571, which was good enough to beat second place Stanford by 19 strokes.
Sophomore Camilla Vik led the way for Columbia, after rounds of 76 and 73 put her in a tie for 16th place. Vik's 149 led the Lions to a 612, which was one stroke behind sixth place San Francisco, and four shots shy of fifth place Colorado.
Jackie Chulya posted the second lowest total for the Lions, firing a first round 73, and following that with a 79 to land in a tie for 22nd. Teammate Rachel Shi opened with a 74, and finished with an 81 to tie for 31st place with a 155, one stroke ahead of Monique Ishikawa's 156 (77-79).
Columbia will return to the east coast and have ten days off before traveling to the Princeton Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 18, which will resume the following day.
