NEW YORK – Columbia field hockey's Christina Freibott was selected to the 2014 Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All-America Third Team Monday morning as announced by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association.
Freibott is just the second Columbia player to earn All-America honors, joining goalkeeper Gena Miller, who was tabbed a third team All-American in 2007.
The honor caps a phenomenal junior campaign for the tri-captain from Wilmington, Delaware. Freibott has already garnered Ivy League Offensive Player of the Year and All-Region selections and was the national leader in assists per game, averaging 1.24.
Freibott set single-season program records for points (41) and assists (21) while becoming Columbia's all-time leader in assists in just three seasons. She was named Ivy League Player of the Week three times and the Lions posted an impressive 12-2 record when Freibott got on the scoresheet.
