Volleyball Falls to Baylor in Final Day of Colonials Volleyball Challenge

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Columbia lost to Baylor 3-0 in the Lions' final matchup of the George Washington Colonials Challenge.
Each set was tight throughout until the Bears made small runs to ice the match.
The Lions lost 25-20, 25-21, 25-22 with Bailey Springer leading Columbia with 12 kills and 10 digs. Cassie Wes had 16 digs and Jennifer Petrovich had 18 assists in the loss.
Columbia and Baylor battled in the early going before Baylor scored five straight points prompting a Columbia timeout. The Bears did not look back, keeping a four-point lead through the rest of the set until the 25-20 final.
In the second set, Baylor jumped out to a 6-0 lead before Columbia eventually tied it up at 11-11. Baylor then scored four consecutive points and did not look back for the 25-21 win.
The two teams traded points in the third set until Baylor took a 20-16 lead en route to a 25-22 victory.
Columbia (3-3) returns to action on Friday, September 19 versus host UConn at the UConn Classic in Storrs, Conn.
