
No. 9 Women's Squash Hits The Road To No. 8 George Washington

NEW YORK – For its final non-conference match of the season, the No. 9 Columbia women's squash team (6-3) will take on No. 8 George Washington (5-5) on the road in Washington, D.C. on Sunday, Jan. 25 at 12 p.m. This marks the Lions fourth top-10 opponent this month, including a 5-4 win over then No. 8 Stanford last weekend.
LAST TIME OUT: Columbia posted back-to-back wins for the first time since opening weekend after a 7-2 victory over No. 16 Middlebury on Saturday, Jan. 17 and an upset over No. 8 Stanford on the courts of Yale University.
Both Reyna Pacheco (#4) and Leah Barnet (#7), grabbed impressive 3-0 wins in consecutive matches. Kate Calihan (#8) also posted a pair of victories with a 3-0 win over Middlebury and a 3-2 win over Stanford.

INSIDE THE SERIES: Although the Lions lead the all-time series 4-2 against the Colonials, George Washington bested Columbia in the teams last meeting at the 2014 CSA National Championships. With the Kurtz Cup crown on the line, George Washington edged Columbia 5-4, snapping a three-match losing streak to the Lions.
ABOUT GEORGE WASHIGTON: The Colonials are 3-1 in its last four matches with wins over No. 10 Stanford, No. 12 Williams and No. 16 Middlebury. At 5-5 overall, George Washington will hosts Columbia for its final of three straight Ivy League opponents. The Colonials fell 4-5 to No. 7 Dartmouth in its last outing, and take on No. 4 Yale on Saturday before facing the Lions on Sunday.
