NEW YORK – The No. 39 Columbia women's tennis team opens the home portion of its schedule when it welcomes St. John's to the Dick Savitt Tennis Center Friday afternoon for a 3 p.m. match.

RANK AND FILE
In the first ITA Division I National rankings of the spring season, Columbia was slotted 40th. Currently, the Lions land 39th in the national poll, the highest amongst the five ranked Ivy League Schools.

LAST TIME OUT
The then-No. 38 Columbia women's tennis team dropped a 4-1 decision to No. 29 Texas Tech in the consolation match of ITA Kick-Off Weekend at the Ken Byers Tennis Complex Sunday.

ABOUT COLUMBIA (0-2)
The Lions return to the friendly confines of the Dick Savitt Tennis Center looking for their first win of the season after falling to No. 18 Georgia Tech and No. 29 Texas Tech at ITA Kick-off Weekend.
Columbia is led by Rima Asatrian and Alexandra Solovyev, who are each 1-0 in dual match play this season. The first-years paired up on the doubles court for Columbia's lone doubles victory in dual action.
SCOUTING ST. JOHN'S (0-0)
The Red Storm make the trip up to the Dick Savitt Tennis Center to open its first season under first-year head coach Marueen Diaz. Last season, as assistant coach Diaz helped St. John's to an 11-9 overall mark and a 4-0 record in BIG EAST play, the best conference record since the 2010 campaign. The Red Storm returns three players from that team including senior Anastasia Polyakova who earned a spot on the All-BIG EAST team after tallying 10 singles including a 5-3 ledger at the No. 2 singles spot.

Columbia heads north to Ithaca, New York, to compete at the ECAC Tournament Feb. 6-8.
