
Volleyball Rounds Out Conference Road Trip This Weekend

NEW YORK - The Columbia volleyball team (3-9, 1-2 Ivy) will round out its five-game conference road trip this weekend as it heads across the Hudson to New Jersey to take on Princeton (Oct. 9) before crossing into Pennsylvania to take on Penn on Oct. 10.
The weekend journey will kick off on Friday night as the Lions head to Princeton, New Jersey, to take on Princeton at 7 p.m. in Dillon Gym before heading to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to the iconic Palestra Center to face Penn at 5 p.m. on Saturday. Saturday's match against Penn will also be part of the Quakers' Dig Pink weekend in support of Breast Cancer Awareness month.
Columbia is looking to bounce back after a conference sweep up North last weekend as it fell to Yale, 3-1, on Oct. 2 before suffering a come-from-behind loss to Brown in a five-set thriller on Oct. 3.

CHASING DOWN PROGRAM HISTORY
- With an impressive 797 assists (9.96 per set) last year that was fifth in the single-season record books, junior Jennifer Petrovich now has 1,658 total assists in her career, moving her into fourth all-time behind Cheryl Bucci (2,154).
- With 81 kills already this season, Bailey Springer is nearing the top five in career kills with 772.
- Katarina Jovicic recently moved into fourth place all-time in Columbia's win over Cornell (Sept. 26), putting her at 212 total blocks to surpass Heather Braungael while Kesi Neblett (193) currently sits in seventh place all-time.
A QUICK LOOK AT THE TIGERS
- Princeton heads into the weekend in search of its first conference victory of the season after dropping three straight to open Ivy League action.
- The 3-1 loss to Penn to open conference play snapped a four-game winning streak for the Tigers after a sweep at the Rutgers Tournament on Sept. 18-19.
- Leading the way this year has been Cara Mattaliano who averages 2.88 kills and 2.74 digs per set while Kendall Peterkin averages 3.27 kills and 0.62 blocks per set for a team-leading 162.5 points.
A QUICK LOOK AT THE QUAKERS
- Penn heads into the weekend after being swept by Harvard last weekend, snapping a four-game winning streak for the Quakers.
- This weekend's matches with Cornell and Columbia marks the first home game at the Palestra since the Quakers hosted the Big 5 Tournament on Sept. 17-18.
- Leading the way this year has been Alexis Genske who is averaging 2.98 kills and 2.75 digs per set while adding 23 blocks and nine aces on the year.
COMING UP NEXT
- The Lions will return home to New York next weekend as they begin a five-game homestand, starting off with a weekend against Harvard (Oct. 16) and Dartmouth (Oct. 17).
