
Freibott & Doherty Earn Longstreth/NFHCA All-Mideast Region Accolades

CHANDLER, Ariz. – Columbia field hockey's Christina Freibott and Maeve Doherty picked up 2015 Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-Mideast Region honors, as announced Monday morning. Freibott was selected to the first team for the second consecutive season, while Doherty was tabbed to the second team, respectively.
Freibott posted 11 goals and 13 assists for 35 points. Her averages of 0.76 assists and 2.06 points per game put Freibott in the NCAA top-10 in both categories. She leaves Columbia as the Lions' all-time leader in points (99), assists (45) and tied for fourth in goals (27).
Doherty had a fantastic sophomore campaign, registering six goals and nine assists from her center back position. The Millersville, Maryland, native's seven defensive saves ranked sixth in the nation and 0.53 assists per game were good for 27th in the country.
The duo of Freibott and Doherty marks the fourth time in the last five years Columbia has put multiple players on the NFHCA All-Region squad.
