Cambridge, Mass. – For the first time in program history the Columbia men's squash team will cap the season in the nations top-five, following a fourth-place finish in Potter Cup (A Division) of the 2015 CSA National Championships on Sunday, Feb. 22.
Despite falling to Ivy League foe Harvard, 3-6, in the third-place playoff match the Lions 2015 campaign was one for the record books. First-year Osama Khalifa completed his inaugural team nationals appearance unbeaten with a 3-0 victory at the #1 position over Harvard's Madhav Dhingra. Rishi Tandon held strong for a 3-2 win at the #2 position (11-9, 7-11, 11-5, 7-11, 11-6), along with Jonathan Gill at the #8 position (11-8, 6-11, 11-7, 2-11, 12-10).
Columbia finishes the 2014-15 season with a 13-4 winning record, highlighted by achieving the programs highest national ranking at No. 3. The Lions posted a record six conference wins, en route to a runner-up Ivy League finish, and multiple top-five victories.
Standout player Ramit Tandon caps the weekend as the 2015 Men's College Squash Skillman Award winner. The Skillman Award is given annually to a senior men's squash player who has demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship during his entire college career.
