
No. 39 Women's Tennis Stalled By No. 62 Dartmouth in ECAC Championship

ITHACA, N.Y. – The No. 39 Columbia women's team was stalled by No. 62 Dartmouth, 4-0, in the ECAC Championship at the Reis Tennis Center Sunday afternoon.
On the doubles court, Kanika Vaidya and Adi Milstein cruised to a 6-3 victory over the Big Green's Akiko Okuda and Julia Schroeder in the No. 3 match to get things going. On the first court, the 42nd-ranked tandem of Tina Jiang and Crystal Leung fell to the 34th-ranked pair of Taylor Ng and Kristina Mathis, 6-5, to even the playing field. With the doubles point on the line, Alexandra Solovyev and Rima Asatrian battled with Katherine Yau and Lexxi Kiven, but could not hold on as the Big Green took the match, 7-5.
With momentum on its side, Dartmouth cruised to three singles victories and clinched the match. Vivian Cheng dropped a 6-1, 7-5, decision to Okuda in the fifth spot while Milstein fell to Schroeder, 6-0, 7-5, at No. 6 singles. On the first court, Jiang was bested by No. 92 Ng, 6-3, 6-2.
Columbia returns to action this weekend when it welcomes Maryland to the Big Apple Saturday, Feb. 14 for a 1 p.m. match at the Dick Savitt Tennis Center.
