PRINCETON, N.J. - The Columbia men's squash team highlighted the 2014-15 Ivy League awards as senior Ramit Tandon earned Player of the Year, Osama Khalifa was named Rookie of the Year and head coach Jacques Swanepoel was named Coach of the Year.
Tandon, recipient of CSA's Skillman Award this season, went 13-1 on the year for the Lions. In 2012, the Kolkata, India, native, became the program's first Rookie of the Year. Three seasons later Tandon put another Columbia first on his collegiate squash resume as he became the first Lion to win Ivy League Player of the Year accolades.
After a standout first campaign in Columbia Blue, Khalifa earned Rookie of the Year honors. The Cairo, Egypt, local surged through the CSA Individual Championships, finishing as the runner-up at the national tournament. Khalifa capped off his first-year in Morningside Heights 20-2.
Swanepoel not only led Tandon and Khalifa to their individual accomplishments, but he was elected by his peers as Coach of the Year after guiding the Lions to a 13-4 record and a fourth-place national finish, the program's best season in its history.
