SCOUTING THE CRIMSON
• Harvard is led by the play of senior setter Corinne Bain, who recorded two triple-doubles last weekend, making her one of 14 in Div. I volleyball to post at least two the entire season ... Bain went for 25 assists, 14 digs and 11 kills on Friday in a 3-1 win over Brown, and followed it up with 24 assists, 12 digs and 11 kills on Saturday in a 3-1 loss to Yale ... The Crimson have conference wins over Brown and Dartmouth, and have fallen to Princeton, Yale and Penn ... Harvard is no better than fourth in the Ivy League in any statistical category, while ranking last in aces per set (0.98), digs (694) and service aces (49).
INSIDE THE HARVARD SERIES
• The series has played out fairly even since 2010 despite Harvard holding a 36-15 all-time series lead ... The Lions are 5-6 against the Crimson over their last 11 matchups, with just one of those five victories coming in Cambridge – a 3-1 decision in November of 2012 ... Harvard has taken nine of the last 10 series contests on its home floor since 2006.
SCOUTING THE BIG GREEN
• Dartmouth is riding an eight-match losing streak heading into its Friday matchup with Cornell ... The Big Green began the year 6-1, which included three-set victories over Milwaukee, George Mason, Sacred Heart, Niagara and Hartford ... The losing skid began September 16 against Akron and carried into Ivy League play, where the Big Green are just 3-15 in sets played ... NEWS/NOTES
IN THE IVY HUNT
• Columbia finds itself at 4-1 heading to the halfway point of the Ivy League season, marking just the second time in program history the Lions won four of their first five (2011) ... The 2011 team went on to post a 9-5 Ivy League record and finish third ... Columbia's best Ivy League finish was a tie for second in 2012, also with a 9-5 mark ... The Lions posted their first 3-0 Ivy League start in program history this season, and would earn their first 6-1 start if they defeat both Harvard and Dartmouth.
TAKING ADVANTAGE AT HOME
• Columbia played 12 consecutive home matches from September 9 - October 8, and posted a record of 9-3 ... The homestand included the Columbia Classic (Sep. 9-10), the Lion Invitational (Sep. 16-17) and its first five Ivy League matches ... It marked the longest homestand in program history in terms of both matches played (12) and total days (30).
SIX-PACK OF WINS
• Columbia won six straight matches from September 16 - October 1, marking the longest winning streak since stringing together a program-best nine straight victories in September of 2010 ... This year's streak began with a 3-0 sweep of Providence, and followed with two more sweeps over Hartford and Fordham ... The Lions won their Ivy League opener on September 24 by coming back from two sets down and saving three match points to defeat Cornell ... The streak reached six the following weekend when Columbia defeated Yale in five and Brown in three.
A FLAIR FOR THE DRAMATIC
• The Lions have won three of their five Ivy League matches in five sets, doing so against Cornell (Sep. 24), Yale (Sep. 30) and Penn (Oct. 8) ... Those account for Columbia's only five-set matches of the season ... Dating back to 2015, the Lions have won four consecutive matches that have made it to five sets, also defeating Yale last Halloween in New York ... The five-set winning streak is Columbia's longest since winning four consecutive five-set decisions from October of 2005 through September of 2006.
