NEW YORK — The Columbia volleyball team completes a five-game road trip this weekend when it travels to Brown (4-14, 2-6 Ivy) and Yale (13-4, 6-2 Ivy). The Lions head to the Pizzitola Center in Providence first to take on the Bears on Friday at 7 p.m. Saturday, Columbia will be at Lee Amphitheater in New Haven, Conn., to battle Yale at 5 p.m.
TOP NOTES
• Columbia (10-8, 5-3 Ivy) is third in the Ivy League standings, but has a chance to catch back up to second-place Yale (6-2 Ivy) … Princeton leads the standings at 8-0.
• First-year Chichi Ikwuazom was named Ivy League Rookie of the Week on Monday … Ikwuazom is seventh nationally in hitting percentage (.439) and 20th in blocks per set (1.41).
• The Lions will be looking for their first victory at Brown since 2012, and their first victory at Yale since 2001.
SCOUTING THE BEARS
• Brown stands seventh in the Ivy League and has lost its last three matches, all on the road ... Last Friday, the Bears fell to Yale in four sets in their only match of the week ... The three-match skid began Oct. 14 and 15 with three-set losses to league-leading Princeton and Penn ... The Bears will be playing at home for the first time since Oct. 8, when they picked up their last victory, defeating Dartmouth (1-7 Ivy) in four ... Brown ranks last in the Ivy League in kills per set (11.07), assists per set (10.09), digs per set (13.60) and attacks per set (33.59) ... Junior libero Melissa Cairo is second in the Ivy League to Columbia's Cassie Wes in digs per set (4.66) and ranks No. 66 nationally, while senior setter Sarah Lucenti is No. 4 in the conference and 99th nationally in aces per set (0.35) ... The attack is led by freshman Makena Ehlert (143 kills, 2.10/set) and senior Payton Smith (142 kills, 2.09 /set).
INSIDE THE BROWN SERIES
• Columbia has defeated Brown in two straight series meetings, both of which came in New York, including a three-set sweep on Oct. 1 that gave the Lions their first 3-0 Ivy League start in program history ... The Bears have won each of the last three contests in Providence since 2013 ... The Lions won nine straight series matchups from 2009-13 and have won 11 of the last 15 overall.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
• Yale is second in the Ivy League standings, two games back of undefeated Princeton (8-0) ... The Bulldogs' two Ivy League losses came at Princeton (Oct. 15) and at Columbia (Sep. 30) ... Yale is undefeated on the season at home, boasting a 6-0 record and 3-0 mark in conference games ... Yale enters the weekend winners of five of its last six and eight of its last 10 ... The Bulldogs rank first in the Ivy League in aces per set (1.59) and opponent hitting percentage (.168), with both of those marks also ranking among the top 50 in the NCAA ... Yale also ranks third in the conference in kills per set (12.41), hitting percentage (.218) and assists per set (11.61) ... Senior outside Brittani Steinberg is first in the Ivy League in aces per set (0.47) and ranks 18th nationally ... Steinberg also heads the attack with 173 kills (3.04/set) ... INSIDE THE YALE SERIES
• Columbia ended a 27-match series losing streak with a five-set victory last season, and now finds itself on a two-match series winning streak after downing the Bulldogs in five, once more, earlier this season ... Both of those victories came at Levien Gym ... Columbia will be trying to defeat Yale in New Haven for the first time since 2001, having lost there in 14 consecutive seasons.

IKWUAZOM TABBED ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
• First-year middle Chichi Ikwuazom was named Ivy League Rookie of the Week for the first time on Monday ... Ikwuazom hit .348 on her way to 12 kills and five blocks against Cornell in the Lions' only match of the week ... The NYC native has led the Lions in kills the last three matches and blocks the last five ... She has two 10-block matches to her credit on the 2016 campaign.
SOME OF THE NATION'S BEST
• First-year Chichi Ikwuazom enters the weekend at No. 7 in the country in hitting percentage (.439) and No. 20 in blocks per set (1.41) ... Senior libero Cassie Wes checks in at No. 6 in digs per set (5.33), and was ranked as high as No. 2 on Oct. 2 ... First-year Grace Campbell is ranked No. 76 nationally in assists per set (10.25) ... Ikwuazom, Wes and Campbell all lead the Ivy League.
IN THE IVY HUNT
• Columbia is third in the Ivy League standings at 5-3, one game back of Yale and three back of first-place Princeton ... Columbia's best Ivy League mark is 9-5, doing so in both 2011 and 2012 ... Columbia's best Ivy League finish was a tie for second in 2012 ... The Lions posted their first 3-0 Ivy League start in program history this season.
CLIMBING THE CHARTS
Senior libero Cassie Wes is third in program history in career digs and enters this weekend with 1,165 ... The career record is 1,408, accomplished by Ellie Thomas (2006-09) ... Katie Beauregard is second all-time with 1,248 from 1999-2002 ... Wes became the fourth Lion in program history to record 1,000 digs on Sep. 17 against Fordham.
TAKING ADVANTAGE AT HOME
• Columbia played 12 consecutive home matches from September 9 - October 8, and posted a record of 9-3 ... The homestand included the Columbia Classic (Sep. 9-10), the Lion Invitational (Sep. 16-17) and its first five Ivy League matches ... It marked the longest homestand in program history in terms of both matches played (12) and total days (30).
SIX-PACK OF WINS
• Columbia won six straight matches from September 16 - October 1, marking the longest winning streak since stringing together a program-best nine straight victories in September of 2010 ... This year's streak began with a 3-0 sweep of Providence, and followed with two more sweeps over Hartford and Fordham ... The Lions won their Ivy League opener on September 24 by coming back from two sets down and saving three match points to defeat Cornell ... The streak reached six the following weekend when Columbia defeated Yale in five and Brown in three.
