
Women's Basketball Heads to Loyola Maryland Wednesday

NEW YORK – The Columbia women's basketball team (3-2) travels to Loyola University Maryland (2-3) on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. tip at Reitz Arena in Baltimore. The game is the second of three this week for the Lions, who defeated Colgate, 75-67, on Sunday, and will turn around to play UMass Lowell on Friday.

OPENING TIPS
• Junior Camille Zimmerman ranks atop the Ivy League in seven statistical categories, including points (19.4) and rebounds (12.4). She is No. 2 nationally in offensive rebounding (5.8).
• Senior Tori Oliver enters the game two rebounds shy of 500 and would become the 12th Lion in history to achieve the milestone. Oliver (1,126 career points) would also become the sixth Lion to record 1,000 points and 500 rebounds.
• Columbia is attempting to start 4-2 or better for the second consecutive season. The last time the Lions won at least four of their first six games in back-to-back seasons was 1988-89 and 1989-90, going 4-2 both years. Last season, Columbia started 5-1 on its way to its most non-conference wins in program history (11-4).
• Columbia has won four consecutive games against current members of the Patriot League dating back to 2013.
• The Lions are 3-0 when attempting more free throws and 0-2 when their opponent gets to the stripe more.
THE SERIES
• The home team has won the first three series meetings. Columbia took a 75-69 contest in the first meeting in 2006, but Loyola got revenge the following year, 66-49. After an eight-year layoff, the series picked back up last season with Columbia earning a 63-53 victory in New York.
ZIMMERMAN'S HOT START
• Junior Camille Zimmerman has been named Ivy League Player of the Week each of the first two weeks. Zimmerman heads into Wednesday averaging an Ivy League-best 19.4 points and 12.4 rebounds. Through the first five games, Zimmerman ranks atop the Ivy League in seven statistical categories, including points per game, field goals made (41), field goal attempts (100), rebounds per game, offensive rebounds per game (5.8), double-doubles (4) and minutes per game (37.4). Zimmerman's 5.8 offensive rebounds per game is the second-best mark in the nation. She is also among the top 10 nationally in rebounds per game and double-doubles. Zimmerman scored a season-high 22 points in the season opener against UMBC (Nov. 11) and matched that output on Sunday against Colgate (Nov. 27). She collected a season-high 17 rebounds in Columbia's 84-77 victory at Saint Francis (Nov. 19).
OLIVER MOVING IN ON 500 REBOUNDS
• Senior Tori Oliver is two rebounds shy of becoming the 12th Lion in program history to record 500 career rebounds. Oliver enters Wednesday with 498, which currently ranks 13th in program history. She will move into sole possession of 12th when she gets to 500, ahead of Kristina Tyer's 499 from 1984-88. Oliver will also become the sixth Lion in program history with 1,000 points and 500 rebounds, joining Ula Lysniak (1983-87), Kathy Gilbert (1987-91), Shawnee Pickney (1997-01), Ellen Bossert (1984-86) and Lauren Dwyer (2007-11).
AMONG NATIONAL LEADERS
• Columbia ranks among the top 20 nationally in free throw percentage (79.3 pct.) and rebounding margin (+12.4). The Lions outrebounded Saint Francis (PA) 51-32 on the way to an 84-77 victory on Nov. 19. Last season, the Lions finished the season No. 2 in free throw percentage (79.7 pct.), which was second to UConn.
EXTRAS FROM COLGATE (Nov. 27)
• Camille Zimmerman recorded her fourth double-double and matched her season-high of 22 points.
• Tori Oliver scored at least 15 points for the fourth consecutive game.
• Paige Tippet scored a season-high eight points, all of which came in the first half.
• Sophomore Abby Lee made her first collegiate start.
• First-year Stephanie Flynn made her collegiate debut and played 12 minutes.
• Columbia took a 5-4 lead in the all-time series against Colgate, snapping the Raiders' two-game series winning streak.
SCOUTING LOYOLA MARYLAND
• The Greyhounds haven't played since Nov. 21 when they were handed a 30-point loss, 74-44, at Pitt. All three of Loyola's losses have come on the road, including a one-point overtime decision at Fairfield, 58-57. In comparison, Loyola is 2-0 at home, defeating Lipscomb by 34 points, 74-30, in the season opener, along with a nine-point victory over St. Francis Brooklyn (Nov. 19).
• Loyola boasts the 11th-ranked 3-point field goal defense in the nation, allowing opponents an average of 21.8 percent from beyond the arc. The Greyhounds are 43rd in overall scoring defense (56.0 ppg) with a +2.8 scoring margin. The offense is led by Bri Betz-White's team-best 17.0 points per game. The 5-3 junior guard also shares the team lead in rebounding (4.2) with 5-10 junior Carly Monzo.
• Head coach Joe Logan is in his 12th season at his alma mater and is the all-time winningest coach in program history with 151 career victories. Logan took the Greyhounds to the WNIT in 2010-11, posting an overall record of 21-13, along with a 15-3 mark in Loyola's former conference, the MAAC.
