FLUSHING, N.Y. - Richard Pham and Victor Pham made a run to the semifinals at the ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships over the weekend at the Billie Jean King Tennis Center in Flushing, New York.
The doubles team, made up of the brothers from Saratoga, California, fell in the semifinal round to the No. 55 ranked team from Valparaiso, Jeffrey Schorsch and Charlie Emhardt. In their first match of the tournament, the Phams knocked off No. 41 Trevor Johnson/Reese Stadler from TCU, 6-4, 6-4, before advancing to the semis with a 7-5, 6-4 win over Santa Barbara's Morgan Mays/Simon Freund.
The Pham brothers qualified for the tournament after topping Shawn Hadavi and Jackie Tang in the championship match at the ITA Northeast Regional, as the Hadavi/Tang combo also found a spot in the tournament by taking the Host Wildcard spot. Hadavi and Tang got by Jordan Cox and Kevin Konfederak of Georgia Gwinnett, 6-3, 6-3, before falling in the quarterfinals to the No. 3 ranked Skander Mansouri/Christian Seraphim of Wake Forest, 6-2, 0-6, 1-0 (13).
Hadavi also took part in the singles draw, but dropped matches against No. 18 Gustav Hansson from Ole Miss and No. 17 Andre Goransson from Cal.
