NEW YORK - Dartmouth will welcome six schools from the Ivy League, including the Columbia women's tennis team, during this weekend's ECAC Championships. Play will get under way on Friday, with the final matches taking place on Sunday.
The Lions will square off with Yale in the third match of the day on Friday at 4 pm. A season ago, Columbia topped Yale 6-1 on the road, including a sweep of six singles matches.
If Columbia were to get by the Bulldogs, they would take on Dartmouth the following day at 4 pm.
In 2015, the Lions are off to a 1-2 start, fueled by a 7-0 win over No. 66 Maryland during the ITA Kick-Off Weekend. During the Championship Match the following day, No. 8 Virginia topped Columbia, 6-1.
Last Friday, the Lions held tough but ultimately fell on the road against Syracuse, 4-3. After the Orange came away with the doubles point, the two teams split the singles matches, 3-3.
Kanika Vaidya was a 6-3, 6-3 winner in the No. 1 singles match, Alexandra Solovyev posted a 6-3, 6-2 victory in the No. 4 match, and Andrea Kevakian won the No. 5 match, 6-1, 6-1.
