NEW YORK - The academic minds of over 200 Dean's List members from the Columbia athletics programs were on display at the 18th Annual Academic Achievement Luncheon, held last week.
Hosted by the Office of Enrichment Services, the 2016 Academic Achievement Luncheon brought together student-athlete honorees, coaches, parents, Department staff, University constituents, and alumni guests for a special recognition of the academic excellence achieved by Columbia student-athletes.
Kathryn Yatrakis, who serves Columbia as the Dean of Academic Affairs, Columbia College and Senior Associate Vice President of Artis and Sciences was the guest speaker.
The event featured a total of 227 student athletes from all 31 sports programs and four undergraduate colleges that achieved Dean's List status. The group also had 34 athletes with a 4.0 grade point average.
"This is such a special event for our Department and the University," said Jessica De Palo, Associate Athletics Director for Enrichment Services, and the emcee of the event. "It is important to recognize the hard work and outstanding academic accomplishments of our student athletes who not only excel athletically, but who also value academic excellence. We are so proud of them!"
