
Women's Golf Announces Addition Of Two New Golfers for 2016-17

NEW YORK – Columbia women's golf head coach Amy Weeks recently announced the addition of two new golfers that will join the Lions for the 2016-17 season this fall.
“We are really looking forward to welcoming Emily and Ridhima to the team in 2016-17,” said Weeks. “The extensive international experience that these two will bring to our squad will be an integral part in developing the team moving forward and will continue to add to the rich and cultural experience of Columbia University.”
Emily Chu | Ancaster, Ontario, Canada | IMG Academy
Chu will join the Lions after a high school career at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. Winner of the 2015 Canadian Junior Girls Association (CJGA) Eastern Canadian Junior Championship and 2015 Golfweek Canadian Invitational, Chu also picked up a Student Athlete of the Week honor while at IMG Academy as well as a second-place finish at the 2014 CJGA PING Canadian Junior Match Play Championship. In the classroom, Chu was named the Maria Garcia-Estrada Memorial Award winner, an AP Scholar with honor, SSAT Scholar and a three-time National Honors Society member (2014-16). Chu will join Columbia College's core program this Fall with an undecided major.
Ridhima Dilawari | New Delhi, India | Delhi Public School
Dilawari heads to Columbia after an impressive career in India where was ranked No. 1 Junior and No. 2 Amateur at the All-India level in 2014-15. A member of the Indian National Squad for the past five years, Dilawari represented India in 15 International Junior/Amateur tournaments including the Youth Asian Games, World Junior Championship, Asia Pacific Junior Open, Asia Pacific Ladies Open, South American Ladies Championship and more. The former No. 1 ranked U13 (2010) and U10 (2008) All-India golfer also holds the ladies course record at Kalhaar Golf Course with a 65 (-7), which marks the lowest score ever played by a girl on the Indian tour. Off the course, Dilawari has received the Award for Academic Excellence (Scholar Badge) at Delhi Public School RK Puram for seven consecutive years (2009-16) and was appointed as the Head Girl of her Junior School (2007) and Senior School (2015). Set to attend Columbia College this fall, Dilawari will look to major in Economics in hopes to eventually pursue a MBA upon graduation.
