Columbia Finalizes 2016 Football Schedule

NEW YORK—Year two of the Al Bagnoli Era of Columbia Football will feature five national television games as part of the Ivy League TV package, the conference announced on Monday. In addition, official game times on Columbia's 2016 schedule were also released.

As a conference, the Ivy League will experience its most expansive national television package ever for football with 21 games across five different networks—NBCSN, CNBC, ONE World Sports, American Sports Network and FOX College Sports and their respective digital platforms over the entire 10-week schedule. All 10 Columbia football games will be broadcast either on television or broadband distribution, including the Ivy League Digital Network (available online at ILDN.tv). All games appearing on ONE World Sports will be simulcast on the ILDN.

Columbia will host five home games at Robert K. Kraft Field at Lawrence A. Wien Stadium (Broadway and 218th Street in New York City) in 2016. The Lions open their season on Saturday, Sept. 17 when they face St. Francis, Pa. for the first time in school history. Columbia opens Ivy League play on Saturday, Oct. 1 when it hosts Princeton. Homecoming is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 22 when Columbia hosts Dartmouth, two days after the induction of the sixth class of the Columbia Athletics Hall of Fame. The Lions will host Yale on its lone Friday night contest, scheduled for Oct. 28. The annual Empire State Bowl game versus Cornell is slated for Saturday, Nov. 12.

Columbia will open its competition schedule on Saturday, Sept. 3 when it travels to Union College in Schenectady, N.Y. to face Ivy League rival Cornell in a neutral site scrimmage. Admission to the scrimmage is free and open to the public.

Columbia Football begins preseason practice on Monday, August 22. All players will report to camp on Saturday, August 20. The Lions return 12 starters including eight on offense and four on defense. Seventy-five letterwinners return to the roster.
