The Lions look to build on a strong season-opening weekend, traveling to face Yale on Friday
NEW YORK — Coming off an undefeated opening weekend, the Columbia women's swimming and diving program will continue action this Friday, traveling to face defending Ivy League dual meet champion Yale. Diving will begin at 4:15 p.m. ET, while the swimming events will kick off at 5 p.m.
Columbia enters the meet with a 2-0 overall record, including a 1-0 mark in Ivy League action after defeating Penn and Northeastern last weekend. The Lions defeated Penn on Friday, 171-129, before downing Northeastern, 156-144, on Saturday.
Nine different Lions recorded individual victories across the season-opening weekend. Against Penn specifically, the Lions posted wins in both relays and had six individual event winners to claim their first win over the Quakers since 2013.
Junior Helen Wojdylo and first-year Briget Rosendahl each provided a pair of Ivy wins against Penn as Wojdylo swept the breaststroke events and Rosendahl claimed both diving victories.
SCOUTING YALE
The Bulldogs also opened the 2018-19 season last weekend, picking up dual meet wins over Brown (160-140) and MIT (196-81).
Yale is coming off its third consecutive Ivy League dual meet title as the Bulldogs compiled an unblemished 11-0, 6-0 Ivy season in 2017-18. The Bulldogs went on to finish second at the Ivy League Championships.
Columbia will look to earn its first victory over the Bulldogs since the 2013-14 season. Last season, the Lions fell 188-111 in New York.
ON DECK
The Lions will remain on the road next weekend, traveling to face Harvard on Friday, Nov. 16, at noon ET.
