SURPRISE, Ariz. – A pair of first round losses took place for the Columbia men's tennis team during the ITA Fall National Championship in Arizona.

During their first round doubles match Wednesday against Drake's Vinny Gillespie and Barny Thorold,
Jack Lin and
William Matheson could not come away with a second set tiebreaker. The Bulldog pair would move on over the tournament's No. 1 seed, taking the match 6-3, 7-6(7).

On Thursday in the consolation bracket, Lin and Matheson bounced back to defeat Yancy Dennis and Paul Jubb from South Carolina by a 7-6(6), 6-4 margin. Up next, the Lion pair will take on Baylor's Will Little and Johannes Schretter during a Friday evening battle.

After taking the first set against South Carolina's Jubb,
Jackie Tang dropped the second and third to the tournament's No. 3 seed, falling 3-6, 6-1, 6-3. Tang went on to withdraw his consolation match which would have been against Tulsa's Majed Kilani.

Along with the ongoing Fall National Championship, the Lions will have members of the team participating in the Navy Gold Invite this weekend in Annapolis, Maryland.
