NEW YORK- Columbia Squash remains undefeated after today's match against Virginia. The Lions returned to their home court at SL Green StreetSquash after last night's win against Williams. Virginia came into today's match ranked No. 12 in the country, and fresh off a win against Fordham last night.Â
Â
For the women, the matches were tough out of the gate, but powered through in the last matches of the day to come out on top of the Cavaliers. "The matches were tight, especially on the women's side," Columbia Head Coach Jacques Swaneopoel said. "We did a good job at fighting better than we had been so far, and it was very satisfying to come out with a win on the women's side."
Â
The men came through with a 9-1 record over Virginia, with seven of the nine wins being taken with only three sets.Â
Â
"I think the big thing for today was getting both of our teams playing sharp from the very beginning of the match. I feel like we were a little slow out of the gate, and our talks today were all about making sure we all start well, and we are excited for Cornell tomorrow."
Â
The Lions return to Street Squash for tomorrow's match up against Cornell. The match begins at Noon.
