Krish Kapur had himself a weekend at CSA Individual Championships
Washington, D.C. - Krish Kapur had himself a weekend in Washington, D.C. at CSA Individual Championships.
After losing his first match of the weekend, Kapur won three straight matches to win the consolation bracket of the Molloy West (B Division) Championship.
Krish Kapur dropped his first match to Drexel's Atticus Kelly but rebounded to defeated MIT's Joe O'Connor in three sets in the consolation quarters.
Both his semi-final and final matches were five set thrillers. In the semis, Kapur was down 0-2 to Navy's Senan Ubina. He fought back to win the next three seets 11-7, 11-4, 11-5 and advanced.
In the finals on Sunday against Yale's Yohan Pandole, the first-year won the first game, 11-1. He dropped the next set 4-11 but won the third, 11-7. After failing to close it out in the fourth, Kapur came out hot in the fifth to close out the match with an 11-5 victory.
This is a great ending to Kapur's first-year campaign in which the Kolkata, India native went 14-1 in the regular season and 2-1 at CSA team championships.
