Xu Places 7th, Leads Women Golf Team to Fourth Place Finish at Ivy League Championship

Xu closes out her career as a two-time Second Team All-Ivy League honoree.

JACKSON, N.J.—Senior Nancy Xu placed seventh to earn All-Ivy League Second Team status as she led the Columbia women's golf team to a fourth place finish at the 2018 Ivy League Championship Sunday at Metedeconk National Golf Course. On Saturday, Columbia shot a team course-low 298 to vault into fourth place and trailed team leader Brown by only four strokes. On Sunday, the Lions maintained fourth place with a 307 and finished the three-round competition at 61-over-par 320-298-307-925.

Xu finished tied for seventh place with a combined 11-over-par 79-73-75-227. In Sunday's final round, Xu shot a 75, firing one birdie and 13 pars. She carded a 73 on Saturday after finishing with three birdies and 11 pars. For the weekend, Xu ranked sixth among the field in both pars (34) and birdies (6) and fourth in the field in par-4 scoring (+3, 4.10) and par-3 scoring (+1, 3.08).

Xu closes out her career as a two-time Second Team All-Ivy League honoree. In the 2015 Ivy League Championship, Xu also earned Second Team All-Ivy League honors after tying for 12th place.

Behind Xu was first-year Qingyi Symba Xu, who finished her first career Ivy League Championship in 13th place at 16-over-par 79-75-78-232. Today, Symba Xu carded 12 pars. On Saturday, Xu carded back-to-back birdies on holes 13 and 14 and finished with par or better on eight of the back nine's holes. He finished the weekend with three birdies and 32 pars.

Junior captain Amy Ding finished third among the five Lions as she placed 15th at 17-over-par 78-79-76-233. Sunday, Ding fired one birdie and 12 pars to move up two spots in the individual standings. On Saturday, she shot 12 pars for 79. On Friday, Ding used a team-high 10 birdies to fire a six-over-par 78. Ding tied for sixth in the field in total pars (34).

Sophomore Emily Chu finished the weekend in 17th place with an 18-over-par 84-72-78-234. Chu made the largest jump in the field in Saturday's competition, going from 30th place to 13th after shooting a team-low 72. Her 72 ranked as the second lowest individual score on Saturday after she carded three birdies and 12 pars. On Sunday, Chu totaled one birdie and 13 pars for a 78. She ranked seventh in total birdies (5) and tied for eighth among the field in par-3 scoring (+2, 3.17),

First-year Katie Lee rounded out the five Columbia scorers in 31st place at 30-over-par 89-78-79-246. She carded 12 pars on Saturday to improve upon her Friday score by 11 strokes.

Princeton won the Ivy League team title after defeating Harvard in a two-hole playoff. Princeton and Harvard tied at 47-over-par 911. Harvard's Michelle Xie won the individual title after shooting a four-over-par 77-71-72-220.

The Metedeconk National Golf Club is a par-72, 6050-yard course.
