NEWBERRY, Fla. – For the second-consecutive season, Columbia Archery caps its year off with a national championship in the compound division at the 2018 National Outdoor Collegiate Archery Championships held on Saturday, May 19 at the Easton Newberry Archery Center. With a score of 218, the Lions edged Michigan State (216) by two points to earn their third national title in four years in the compound, led by performances from Sophia Strachan, Deborah Teo, and Brittney Shin
"This is so exciting," Strachan said. "We worked really hard and practiced a lot. I'm a sophomore, so I would like to go for all four. We're a young team as a sophomore and two first-years. We have really good team vibes and had a ton of fun out there today; we miss our upperclassmen, but we put together a strong team and had the best time!"
In the recurve, Columbia took home a Silver Medal for national runner-up finish. Led by Aileen Yu, Bianca Gotuaco, and Stephanie Kim, the Lions squad defeated CSU Long Beach and James Madison (6-0) before falling to Texas A&M in the finals (6-2).
