HARRISONBURG, Va. — The Columbia archery team won every gold medal it competed for over the weekend at the 2026 USA Archery Collegiate Target Regionals. The East Region event was held Saturday and Sunday at UREC Turf Field on the campus of James Madison University.
Columbia won team gold in women's recurve, women's compound and mixed compound. Sophomore Alena Lipscomb took gold in the Recurve College Women's Division, while senior Giselle DeSousa took gold in the Compound College Women's Division. The Lions also took silver and bronze in recurve, with senior Lillian Han earning silver and first year Isabella Kim winning the bronze.
The Recurve College Women's Division came down to all-Columbia gold-medal and bronze-medal matches. Top-seeded Alena Lipscomb faced off against second-seeded Lillian Han for the gold. Han won the first two ends, 26-24 and 28-19, but Lipscomb rallied all the way back. She won the last three ends, 24-23, 24-22 and 23-22, in a dramatic finish to earn the gold, 6-4.
The bronze-medal match came down to No. 5 seed Isabella Kim and No. 6 seed Mia Shin. Kim led 5-1 after three ends, but Shin won the fourth, 24-21, to pull the match to 5-3 heading to the fifth and final end. Kim prevailed, winning the final end, 24-20, and the match, 7-3, for her bronze.
The Compound College Women's Division came down to senior Gieselle DeSousa taking on James Madison's Aubrey Toothaker in the gold-medal match. DeSousa, the No. 3 seed, won all five ends to beat Toothaker, 138-132, for the gold. Sophomore Briana Moore was in the bronze-medal match against Rowan University's Delany Chapman, but fell in a close battle, 133-131.
Columbia also won gold in all team events. Alena Lipscomb, Lillian Han and Michelle Ahn won team gold in recurve, while Sydney Sullenberger, Giselle DeSousa and Briana Moore won gold in compound. The Lions were also represented in the mixed-team round. Sullenberger won the gold, pairing with Columbia club archer Cooper Keane to capture the title.
In addition to their medals, seven Columbia archers were named to the 2026 All-East Team. The team is determined by combining individual scores from USA Archery Indoor Nationals and Collegiate Target Regionals.
