TEMPE, Ariz. – Columbia Associate Head Coach Howard Endelman and first-year Jack Lin were among the ITA Regional Award Winners, announced on Monday, May 21.
Endelman '87CC was named the Northeast Region tasc Performance ITA Assistant Coach of the Year, while Lin, a freshman from Markham, Ontario, picked up ITA Rookie of the Year honors for the Northeast Region.
This is the third time in his eight years with the Lions that Endelman has been honored by the ITA. Following a successful 2013 season in which Columbia finished 15-7, he was named the Northeast Region Assistant Coach of the year, before earning National Assistant Coach of the year honors in 2015, when he helped the team advance to the Sweet 16 for the second straight year. In 2018, Endelman guided the Lions to their fifth consecutive Ivy League Title and a berth into the Sweet 16 where Columbia was defeated by the No. 1 team in the country, Wake Forest.
Lin was impressive in both singles and doubles during his first season as a Lion, playing in the No. 3 singles spot and No. 2 doubles all year. In singles play, Lin went 10-4 in the fall, including a pair of victories to open the year at the ITA Grass Court Invitational, before a 13-5 spring which included two wins at the ITA Team Indoor Nationals. Alongside William Matheson in doubles play, the pair put up a 21-7 record, with a season best ranking of No. 21, as they await the NCAA Doubles Tournament which is set to begin on Wednesday. The rookie was also named a first team All-Ivy League doubles player, and a second team All-Ivy singles selection.
