Two Columbia Golfers Honored by Women's Collegiate Golf Association as All-American Scholars

NEW YORK, N.Y.—Two Columbia women's golfers—senior Nancy Xu and sophomore Emily Chu—were honored as prestigious All-American Scholars released earlier this week by the Women's Collegiate Golf Association. The WGCA's minimum requirement for the award is a 3.50-grade point average.
Xu earns the prestigious honor for a fourth consecutive season. She becomes just the third all-time player at Columbia to earn the honor in four consecutive seasons joining Jackie Chulya (2014, 2015, 2016, 2017) and Lisa Combs (2012, 2013, 2014, 2015). Chu is a two-time honoree.
Xu, the Lions' lone senior from Sunnyvale, Calif., earned Second Team All-Ivy League honors for the second time in her career in 2017-18 after finishing in a tie for seventh place at 11-over-par 79-73-75-227 at the Ivy League Championship (April 20-22). She led the Lions in season stroke average at 77.15 (1,003 strokes in 13 rounds) and finished ranked among the top-25 golfers in three invitationals. Among her top performances in 2017-18 included a fifth-place finish at the Picciotto Memorial Intercollegiate (April 8-9) with a 13-over-par 82-75-157 and a 22nd place performance at the 3M Augusta Invitational (March 16-18) at seven-over-par 73-75-75-223.
As a sophomore, Chu finished the 2017-18 season with a 79.18 stroke average (1,742 strokes in 22 rounds) and registered two top-25 finishes while competing in eight invitationals. She placed 17th at the Ivy League Championship (April 20-22) after shooting an 18-over-par 84-72-78-234. Her other top-25 finish was a ninth-place performance at the Picciotto Memorial Intercollegiate (April 8-9) after shooting a 14-over-par 81-77-158. Chu also averaged a 77.63 in spring competition (854 strokes in 11 rounds), which ranked third on the squad.
