Temares, Wall Lead Women's Soccer Past Colorado College 2-1

A first half goal from Gracie Wall and a score in the second by Maddie Temares help Columbia defeat Colorado College, 2-1.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – A first half goal from Gracie Wall and a score in the second by Maddie Temares helped the Columbia women's soccer team best Colorado College, 2-1.
 
The win helps the Lions improve to 2-0-1 on the season, while Colorado College falls for the first time in 2018, dropping to 3-1-0.
 
In the 17th minute of action, Columbia drew a free kick. Rookie Jessica Schildkraut took it, finding Wall who put it away for her first career goal.
 
Later on in the first, the Tigers evened the score with a goal by Lucia Costanza in the 43rd minute, as the teams went into the half tied, 1-1.
 
The Lions had a pair of looks at goal in the opening minutes of the second half, but Wall's header in the 52nd minute went wide, before a shot by Jordyn Geller two minutes later was saved.
 
In the 67th minute, Temares was able to break through for the first time this year. The junior netted a goal from a Mallaika Tomar assist, putting the Lions up, 2-1.
 
Colorado College had two more looks at net in the final 23 minutes of the contest, but Sophie Whitehouse was there to save both attempts, as she ended the night with 10 saves and just the one goal against.
 
Columbia now will have a day off before meeting up with Denver at 2:00 p.m. EST on Sunday.
