WASHINGTON D.C. – The No. 10 ranked Georgetown women's soccer team got the better of Columbia today in a 4-0 win at Shaw Field.

With the loss, the Lions fall to 3-4-1 on the season after the final tune-up before the start of Ivy League play.

In the first half of action at Georgetown, the home team was able to find the net in the opening moments. Caitlin Farrell netted an unassisted score just 9:35 into the match, giving the Hoyas a 1-0 lead.

Just under 12 minutes later, the Hoyas again were attacking in the final third, with Kyra Carusa setting up Paulina Germino-Watnick for the score in the six-yard box.

Columbia was only able to muster one attempt on goal in the first half, as a shot from
Emma Anderson was saved in the 31st minute, before Georgetown took a 2-0 lead into the break.

The offensive explosion would continue for the home team in the second half, with a pair of goals for the Hoyas in the opening moments. Germino-Watnick found Meghan Shaver for a header in the 53rd minute, making it a 3-0 contest. That lead would become extended in the 65th minute, when Carson Nizialek finished off of a Farrell assist for the fourth Georgetown goal.

Mallaika Tomar generated the most chance on the day for the Lions, with two attempts both coming on goal, however they were also both saved.
Cayla Davis finished with two shots on the day, while Anderson and
Bailey Peacock had one each.
Sophie Whitehouse faced 14 shots in goal, saving two attempts, while allowing four scores.

Next Saturday, the Lions host Cornell in the Ivy League opener at 6:00 p.m. on ESPN+.
