Lions Set to Open 2019 at Cornell Saturday

The Columbia women's swimming and diving team will open the 2019 portion of its season in Ithaca on Saturday, Jan. 12
NEW YORK — Jumping back into action for the first time in 2019, the Columbia women's swimming and diving team is set to take on Cornell on Saturday, Jan. 12 at Teagle Pool in Ithaca, New York. Diving events will begin at 11 a.m. ET, with swimming commencing at 1 p.m.

The Lions are 3-2 this season, including a 2-2 mark in Ivy League action.
Columbia heads to Ithaca fresh off a month-long hiatus. In their most recent outing, the Lions earned a historic 160-140 victory over the visiting Princeton Tigers on Dec. 7. The triumph marked Columbia's first over the Tigers since the 2013-14 season, and just the third win in the all-time series between the two programs.
Against the Tigers, Columbia won 11-of-16 events overall to grab the victory. First-year Clare Larsen was a standout in the meet winning both the 50 and 500 freestyle as well as contributing to the winning 200 free relay. Other individual event winners included first-years Briget Rosendahl (3-meter) and Mary Pruden (200 fly), sophomore Jessica He (200 free), juniors Clare MacNamara (1,000 free) and Julia Samson (100 back) and senior Jessica Antiles (200 IM).
SCOUTING CORNELL
The Big Red enter the second half of the season with a 1-3 mark in dual meets, all of which have been against Ivy League foes. The lone win of the season came against Penn on Nov. 17, taking a 161-139 decision over the Quakers.
Columbia has claimed two of the last three meetings between against Cornell, including a 171-129 triumph a season ago.
ON DECK
The Lions will continue Ivy League action on Jan. 18, bringing in Brown for the final home contest of the season.
