Columbia will host its home finale Friday, welcoming Brown to Percy Uris Natatorium
NEW YORK — Coming off back-to-back Ivy League dual meet victories, the Columbia women's swimming and diving team looks to stretch its win streak to three on Friday as they welcome the Brown Bears to Percy Uris Natatorium at 5 p.m. ET for the home finale.
The meet will serve as Senior Day for Columbia's seven seniors, Jessica Antiles, Mary Ashby, Seanna Barrett, Miriyam Ghali, Arianna Noya, Maureen Racovec and Kim Yang, as well as senior manager Aileen Lee. The Senior Day presentation will begin just prior to the start of the meet.
Live results for the meet will be available via the Meet Mobile app.
Columbia is coming off an impressive 167.5-132.5 road victory over Cornell to open up 2019 action. Ashby was a standout for the Lions in the outing, breaking the Teagle Pool record in the 50-yard freestyle (22.92), winning the 100 free (50.17) and contributing to another pool record in the 200 free relay. Sophomore Jessica He also claimed multiple event wins vs. the Big Red, finishing first in the 200 free (1:50.42) and 500 free (5:04.03).
SCOUTING BROWN
Brown enters Friday's meeting with a 3-4 overall record, including a 2-2 mark in Ivy League duals. In their most recent outing, the Bears visited Cambridge, Massachusetts, for a tri meet with Harvard and Penn on Jan. 12. The Bears easily defeated Penn, 218-82, but fell to the Crimson, 162.5-137.5.
Each of the last three meetings between the Bears and Lions have been decided by less than 15 points, but Brown has come up on the winning end in all three. Columbia's last win over Brown came on Jan. 24, 2015, with the Lions claiming a dominant 215-85 victory at Uris Pool.
ON DECK
The Lions will hit the road for their final regular season dual on Feb. 2, facing off against Dartmouth at noon. Columbia will then take more than two weeks off before beginning postseason at the Ivy League Championships, Feb. 20-23, in Princeton, New Jersey.
