NEW YORK—Liliana "Lily" Rodriguez has been promoted to Director of Enrichment Services for Columbia Athletics. In her new role, Rodriguez will focus on managing student-athlete career development activities, building relationships with and engaging the Columbia Athletics alumni and campus community, and providing individual career guidance to student-athletes. Additionally, Rodriguez will support Success Through Well-Being's various academic and well-being initiatives.
"Lily has been a great addition to our administrative team and the Columbia Athletics community, and I am excited for her contributions to our student-athlete support services in this position," Associate Athletics Director for Enrichment Services Jessica De Palo said. "Lily will continue to play an integral role in our Success Through Well-Being initiative as we work to understand, support and empower every student-athlete holistically, as a student, as an NCAA Division I athlete, and an individual. I am confident that Lily's contribution will help us work toward our goal of building the best program for student-athlete support services in the country."
Rodriguez arrived at Columbia in August 2019 after spending the past five years as the Director of Championships and SAAC Coordinator at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference in Edison, N.J. In that capacity, Rodriguez handled the planning, oversight and budget management of MAAC Championships and awards banquets, coordinated MAAC events hosted at Walt Disney World and Disney's Wide World of Sports, served as the event manager for the MAAC golf tournaments, and managed various aspects of the MAAC-sponsored NCAA basketball tournaments including game presentation, community outreach programming, and hotel agreements.
In addition, she oversaw the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, including meeting plans and community service efforts, served on the NCAA Division I Rowing Committee, which she was appointed to after serving as the Co-Regatta Director of the 2017 NCAA Division I, II and III Women's Rowing Championships.
Rodriguez began her career in athletics administration in communications at Rutgers University in 2013-14 and at Saint Peter's University for two years from 2011-13.
A Linden, N.J. native, Rodriguez graduated from Saint Francis, N.Y. in May 2011 with a Bachelor of Science degree in management with a concentration in marketing. She went on to earn a Master of Business Administration degree from Saint Peter's in May 2013. At Saint Francis, Rodriguez played four years on the volleyball team, served as team captain, and earned Dean's List and NEC Academic Honor Roll status. She also served on the Terriers' Student-Athlete Advisory Board. In 2011, she earned SFC's Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year award. She was an All-Union County and All-Watchung Conference honoree at Linden High School.
"I am incredibly honored and excited for this opportunity," Rodriguez said. "It is a privilege to serve Columbia University's student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and the greater Columbia Athletics community in this role. I will continue to work toward making sure all current and future Lions are provided with the best support available in all of NCAA Division I athletics."
