Columbia Falls to Dartmouth Friday

Sophomore attacker Alexandria Absey registered her seventh multiple-goal game of the season

NEW YORK – The Columbia women's lacrosse team dropped a 19-2 decision to the visiting Dartmouth Big Green on a blustery Friday evening at Robert K. Kraft Field at Lawrence A. Wien Stadium.

Sophomore attacker Alexandria Absey was a bright spot for the Lions, netting both of the Columbia's goals in the outing for her seventh multiple-goal performance of the season. Absey leads Columbia with 20 goals overall in 2019.

The Lions (3-7, 0-3 Ivy League) struggled to get going offensively as Dartmouth (4-3, 2-0 Ivy) sprinted ahead to a 7-0 lead. Absey finally put the Lions on the board with 15:49 to play in the first half off an assist from first-year Katie Lutz, but the Big Green would close the half on another 8-0 run to take a 13-1 advantage into the locker room.

Asbey's second goal of the contest came with 24:15 to play, converting on a free-position goal, but Columbia's scoring would be stifled for the remainder of the game.

The Lions will have a week-long break before wrapping up a three-game homestretch against Hofstra on Saturday, March 30, at 7 p.m. ET.
