PRINCETON, N.J. – The Columbia lightweight rowing team split four races with Princeton on Saturday. The Tigers topped the Lions in the varsity eight to reclaim the Campbell Cup for the second time in three seasons.
Columbia fell by 2.7 seconds to Princeton, who improved to 3-0 on the year in the final race of the morning. In the second varsity eight, the Lions extended their winning streak to nine, dating back to last season with a 3.4-second triumph.
The Tigers were victorious in the third varsity by a margin of 3.7 seconds, while Columbia's fourth varsity coasted to an open-water win in the first race of the day.
Columbia has a pair of races next weekend, first heading to Annapolis to face Navy for the WIT Cup on Saturday, April 6. The Lions will make their home debut at Overpeck Park Sunday, April 7 against Harvard.
