Track and Field Competes in Three National Meets

Twenty-five Columbia men’s and women’s track and field athletes competed this weekend in three different meets around the nation: Raleigh Relays in Raleigh, N.C., Pepsi Florida Relays in Gainesville, Fla. and Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif.
NEW YORK—Twenty-five Columbia men's and women's track and field athletes competed this weekend in three different meets around the nation. Groups competed at the Raleigh Relays in Raleigh, N.C., Pepsi Florida Relays in Gainesville, Fla. and Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif.
Highlighting the Lions at the Raleigh Relays was Jack Pihlkar, who finished sixth in the men's hammer throw with a 59.14m mark and Lucky Schreiner, who finished 25th in the men's 5,000-meter run (14:08.75).
At the Pepsi Florida Relays, Alek Sauer ran a 1:48.47 to finish sixth and the third fastest collegian in the men's 800-meter run, Daniel Igbokwe placed sixth in the men's triple jump (15.61m/51-2 3/4) and the Lions' 4x800-meter men's relay team (Sauer, Jackson Storey, Josiah Langstaff and Solomon Rice) finished third with a 7:21.97. Additionally, Kali Hatcher finished seventh in the women's triple jump with a 12.83m/41-1 ¼ jump, Sydney Groom placed 17th in the women's 800-meter run (personal-best 2:07.71).
Providing top finishes at the Stanford Invitational were Annie Fanta, who finished with a 4:23.68 in the women's 1,500-meter run, Allie Hays, who ran a 16:06.00 in the women's 5,000-meter run, Sam Ritz, who ran a 3:45.62 in the men's 1,500-meter run and Brian Zabilski, who ran a school-record and personal-best 13:53.51 in the men's 5,000-meter run.
