NEW YORK — Columbia women's basketball head coach
Megan Griffith '07CC announced the program's 2019-20 recruiting class on Wednesday. The Lions welcome a trio of newcomers in
Kaitlyn Davis,
Abbey Hsu and
Carly Rivera.
Â
"It is my great pleasure to announce the Columbia women's basketball Class of 2023," said Griffith, who enters her fourth season as head coach. "Carly, Abbey and Kaitlyn add depth at every position, as well as elite playmaking abilities on both ends of the floor. This group's presence will be felt as soon as they step on campus. We are looking forward to seeing them mesh with our returning members and are excited to see how they can help take our program to the next level."
Â
Columbia is coming off a 2018-19 season that saw the team win its most Ivy League games since 2010-11, including a 10-point win over Harvard and its first season sweep over Brown since 2013. Last year's recruiting class broke a program record with eight combined Ivy League Rookie of the Week selections, including six alone from
Sienna Durr. Durr went on to earn Columbia's first Ivy League Rookie of the Year award and was also named the Met Basketball Writers Association Women's Div. I Rookie of the Year.

#4 Kaitlyn Davis – G/F – 6-0 – Norwalk, Conn. / Greenwich Academy
From nearby Norwalk, Connecticut,
Kaitlyn Davis joins the Columbia roster as a five-year standout at Greenwich Academy. Davis joined the varsity team as an eighth grader and averaged 16.6 points per game that season before going on to be a four-time Fairchester Athletic Association All-League honoree. She averaged a career-best 21 points and 12.3 rebounds in 2015-16 and also averaged a double-double as a sophomore in 2016-17. The 6-0 wing played on the AAU circuit for Connecticut Basketball Club and was an Honors Student at Greenwich Academy.
Griffith on Davis:
"Kaitlyn is a dynamic playmaker with great size. Her ability to seamlessly change between positions will make her a tough matchup for any opponent. She has great vision, court awareness and the physical presence to play inside-out. She is the true definition of a positionless player in our system and has a next-level feel for the game."

Abbey Hsu joins the Lions after a three-year career at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School before transferring to St. Thomas Aquinas for her senior season. #15 Carly Rivera – G – 5-4 – Arlington, Va. / St. John's College High School
Heading to Broadway from just outside the nation's capital,
Carly Rivera completes Columbia's trio of newcomers. The 5-4 point guard was a four-year letterwinner at St. Johns' College High School in D.C., where she was part of three Washington College Athletic Conference (WCAC) championships and four District of Columbia State Athletic Association (DCSAA) title teams. In Rivera's four years, the Cadets posted a record of 125-13 overall, ranking No. 1 in the DMV three straight seasons, as well as achieving a top-five ranking nationally. Rivera's individual accolades include being named a First Team All-WCAC and First Team DCSAA player as a senior. She was also Third Team All-Met this past season, leading the DMV with 215 assists including a career-high 11 in a single game. She scored a career-high 16 points to lead the Cadets in the 2018 WCAC Championship Game. Rivera played for both Team Takeover and GTS Fusion at the AAU level, while also competing for Fairfax Stars in the EYBL.
Griffith on Rivera:
"Carly is one of the smartest players I have recruited to date. Her elite IQ on the floor will make her an extension of how we want to operate on both ends. She is an unselfish player and leader that will put a premium on doing what the team needs at all times. She will compete every day on both ends and is physically ready to play at this level."Â
