Head Coach Al Bagnoli and seniors Daniel DeLorenzi and Michael Murphy represent the Lions in Bristol.
BRISTOL, Conn.—Patricia and Shepard Alexander Head Coach of Football Al Bagnoli, senior linebacker Michael Murphy, and senior defensive lineman Daniel DeLorenzi represented Columbia Football at 2019 Ivy League Football Media Day Thursday at ESPN headquarters in Bristol, Conn.
The trio of Lions participated in a variety of interviews and activities set up by the Ivy League and ESPN. All three Lions were interviewed on set for a live 15-minute ESPN+ production and press conference hosted and moderated by Jack Ford. Bagnoli, Murphy, and DeLorenzi all fielded questions from the assembled in-studio media. The live ESPN+ broadcast also featured appearances from players and coaches from each of the eight institutions along with guest segments from Ivy League Executive Director Robin Harris, discussions of ESPN and the Ivy League's respective plans surrounding CFB150 and ESPN+, the subscription platform that is home to more than 1,100 Ivy League events annually.
Murphy and DeLorenzi had the opportunity to sit-in and experience life as an announcer on ESPN SportsCenter. ESPN SportsCenter hosts Elle Duncan and Jay Harris tutored both Columbia players before they "went live" and announced a chosen highlight on the popular show. Murphy chose to announce Los Angeles Dodgers-Florida Marlins Major League Baseball highlights, while DeLorenzi chose an NFL preseason Minnesota Vikings-New Orleans Saints game.
Bagnoli, Murphy, and DeLorenzi were also interviewed by representatives of the media, NCAA, Ivy League and ESPN. The trio taped preview interviews in preparation for Columbia's Friday, Oct. 25 game at Dartmouth on ESPNU.
The Lions also toured ESPN's 123-acre campus.
Today's Ivy League Media Day event was held as a special session in conjunction with the yearlong celebration of college football's 150th anniversary (CFB150).
