Ninth-ranked junior Jack Lin will travel to Malibu for the elite tournament Sept. 26-29
NEW YORK — Columbia junior Jack Lin will travel to Malibu, California, this week to participate in the 2019 Oracle ITA Masters singles draw from Sept. 26-29 at Pepperdine University and the Malibu Racquet Club.
Having earned the No. 4 overall seed in the main singles draw, Lin will open up play Wednesday at approximately 4:30 p.m. ET taking on Monmouth's Max Benaim.
The Oracle ITA Masters features elite NCAA Division I players in 32-player men's and women's singles draws and is the only collegiate event to showcase a mixed-doubles draw. Invitations are sent based on conference affiliation, with each conference having the opportunity to send its top returning player. The main draws will be announced Wednesday afternoon.
The men's and women's singles champions will earn automatic entry into the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships scheduled for Nov. 6-10 in Newport Beach, California.
Lin earned his way into the tournament after finishing the 2019 season as the Ivy League's top player, earning All-America honors after advancing to the round of 16 at the NCAA Singles Championship. Lin was also named the 2019 ITA Northeast Player to Watch after earning first team Ivy League honors in both singles and doubles.
Starting off the season ranked ninth nationally in singles and sixth in doubles with senior Jackie Tang, Lin opened up his fall season by posting a 4-0 record and winning the top singles flight at the Farnsworth Ivy-Plus Tournament last weekend.
Action at the Oracle ITA Masters begins Thursday at 11 a.m. ET and concludes Sunday afternoon with the men's and women's singles championship matches. ESPNU will re-air the men's finals on Oct. 2 beginning at 4 p.m. ET. The ESPN family of networks will broadcast the Oracle ITA Masters to a national audience for the second consecutive year.
Several Columbia players will also head to Charlottesville, Virginia, this weekend, Sept. 27-29, to compete in Virginia's Orange and Blue Classic.
