The Lions return to Percy Uris Natatorium for the first dual meet of 2020
NEW YORK — Columbia women's swimming and diving is set to open up the new year on Sunday, competing in its first dual meet of 2020 by hosting Cornell at noon ET inside Percy Uris Natatorium.
As with all home meets, admission is free to all fans. Live results will be available via Meet Mobile.
The Lions are 1-2 on the season, with all three dual meets having been against Ivy League foes. After opening the season with a 195-105 triumph over Penn, Columbia fell to Yale and Harvard in the following weeks.
The meet will be the first for both teams in over a month after breaking for the holiday season. In the Lions most recent outing, the squad registered nine victories in the four-day Rutgers Invitational, Dec. 4-7. Senior captain Helen Wojdylo led the way with three individual victories in the 100 breast (1:01.48), 200 IM (2:01.59) and 200 breast (2:14.74). First-year Karen Liu also had a pair of victories in the 200 fly (1:58.78) and 400 IM (4:17.81). Sophomore diver Briget Rosendahl grabbed a pair of wins on 3-meter (274.00) and platform (235.55). Columbia also earned victories in both the 200 and 400 medley relays.
SCOUTING CORNELL
The Big Red are 2-4 on the season with an 0-4 mark in conference meets entering Sunday's matchup. Most recently, Cornell defeated Binghamton in a dual meet on Nov. 26 before finishing third at Akron's Zippy Invitational, Dec. 6-8.
Columbia has won three of the last four meetings in the series, including a 167.5-132.5 triumph in Ithaca last January.
ON DECK
The Lions continue Ivy League action in their first road contest of the season next weekend, traveling to face Brown at noon on Saturday.
