The Columbia women's swimming and diving team will take on Brown on Saturday at noon
NEW YORK — The Columbia women's swimming and diving team continues Ivy League dual meet action this Saturday, Jan. 18, traveling to face the Brown Bears at noon ET.
Saturday's meet will be a combined men's and women's meet, hosted at the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center, site of the upcoming 2020 Ivy League Women's Swimming and Diving Championships.
The Lions head to Providence fresh off a 164-136 victory over Cornell on Sunday. Winning 10-of-16 events, Columbia advanced to a 2-2 overall record on the season having only competed against conference foes. The Lions won the first ix events of the competition, and never trailed in the team scoring.
A highlight against the Big Red came as senior Helen Wojdylo set a new Uris Pool record in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:01.62). Columbia also used individual victories from Livy Poulin (3-meter), Mary Pruden (1,000 freestyle), Lisa Zhang (100 backstroke), Audrey Richter (50 free), Karen Liu (200 breast) and Olivia Jubin (200 free, 400 IM).
SCOUTING THE BEARS
Brown (3-3, 2-3 Ivy) has a short turnaround after having traveled to face Harvard on Wednesday where the Crimson came out on top, 184.5-110.5. In the outing, the Bears had wins in the 100 freestyle and 400 IM. The Bears own league wins over Dartmouth and Penn.
Last season, Columbia earned a 159-141 victory over Brown in New York. Each of the last four meetings between the teams have been decided by less than 20 points, but last year's victory was Columbia first in the series since 2015.
ON DECK
The Lions will have one week before traveling to Princeton next Saturday, Jan. 25, for the final road dual of the 2019-20 season. The meet will kick off at noon.
