Erin Gregoire '19CC Qualifies For The US Olympic Trials In The Marathon

Recent Lion grad Erin Gregoire will race for a chance to go to Tokyo on Feb. 29 in Atlanta, Georgia.
HOUSTON – In one of the final opportunities to qualify for the United States Track & Field Olympic Trials, recent Columbia Track & Field graduate, Erin Gregoire '19CC, clocked a time of 2:42:55 in the marathon at the Chevron Houston Marathon, on Sunday, Jan. 19, to qualify for the trails and put herself in a position to punch her ticket to the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics.
Gregoire, who was an Ivy League Indoor champion and a three-time All-Ivy League performer, will now head to Atlanta, Georgia to take part in the Olympic Trials, set to go on Feb. 29. The qualification standards that Gregoire met fall into two categories, an "A" and "B" standard, with the "A" standard being a time under 2:37 and the "B" standard being a time under 2:45, with Gregoire's time of 2:42 falling easily under the "B" standard time.
Besides cruising to a qualifying time, Gregoire also set herself apart from the field in several categories, finishing first among 141 women between the ages of 20-24, 21st overall out of 2,600 women and 141st overall out 6,900 men and women competitors.
