No. 9 Columbia Set To Host No. 7 Dartmouth In Ivy League Clash

No. 9 Columbia Women's Squash will spend Super Bowl Sunday hosting Ivy League foe No. 7 Dartmouth.
NEW YORK – Fresh off a big road win at then-ranked No. 9 Virginia, No. 9 Columbia Women's Squash (8-4, 3-1 IVY) returns to the SL Green Streetsquash Center for an Ivy League showdown against No. 7 Dartmouth (4-4, 0-3 IVY) on Sunday, Feb. 2, with the match set to get started at 12 p.m.
REVIEWING THE PREVIOUS: The Lions went to Charlottesville, Virginia on Jan. 26, and battled to a 5-4 victory over the then-ranked Virginia Cavaliers. The Cavs took a 2-1 lead early in the match, but it was three straight wins by Jui Kalgutkar (No. 4), Jane Pincus (No. 9), Cindy Cao (No. 7) and Nicole Kendall (No. 3) that set the Lions on the path to victory. The match, which snapped a three-match losing streak for Columbia, was clinched by Kendall's win at No. 3, when she took down Maria Moya-Lopez in straight sets, 11-2, 11-7, 11-8.
UNDEFEATED PINUCS: Through the season, Pincus has been unbeatable, sitting at 12-0, and her 12 wins ties her for first in the country for total wins. Pincus is also one three student-athletes in the country who are undefeated with at least double-digit wins and matches played and she sits ranked as the No. 1 player in the country according to the College Squash Association player rankings.
Pinucs has primally played at No. 8 and No. 9, holding a 6-0 record at No. 9 and a 3-0 record at No. 8. But the Lion junior has also played matches at No. 2, No. 3 and No. 7, holding 1-0 records in both slots.
WHAT THE BIG GREEN BRING: Dartmouth, who currently sits at 4-4, 0-3 IVY, will head into Sunday's match against Columbia having faced Cornell in Ithaca, New York on Feb. 1. The weekend trip will be Dartmouth's first road trip since taking on George Washington on Jan. 19 at Williamstown, Massachusetts. The Big Green enter the match at Cornell, on Feb. 1, having won three-straight matches, with their last loss coming against Penn on Jan. 12.
The last matchup between Columbia and Dartmouth took place on Jan. 12, 2019 in Hanover, New Hampshire, which resulted in a 7-2 win for Columbia, and the Lions have won the last five meetings between the two programs. Dartmouth's last visit to Harlem, New York was a 6-3 win for the Lions in a match that took place on Jan. 13, 2018.
Four members of the Big Green hold a team-leading four wins, with Claire Aube (4-4), Jesse Brownell (4-3), Julia Potter (4-3), Sandra Reiss (4-3) all sitting at the top. Brownell, Potter and Reiss, who have a .571 winning percentage, are the team leaders in winning percentage. Entering the weekend, Abue, Brownell, Potter and Reiss all own three-match winning streaks, which could be extended to four depending on their results at Cornell (Feb. 1).
