No. 11 Lions Dominate No. 7 Dartmouth, 8-1, In Ivy League Clash

Columbia Men's Squash snapped a five-match losing streak by knocking off the Dartmouth Big Green.
NEW YORK – In the first match at the SL Green Streetsquash Center for No. 11 Columbia Men's Squash (6-7, 3-2 IVY) since Jan. 19, the Lions came out with a mission and from the start dominated No. 7 Dartmouth (5-6, 1-4 IVY) for an 8-1 Ivy League victory on Sunday, Feb. 2.
The win, which included victories from James Wyatt, Callan Hall, Robin Mann, Krish Kapur, Chaitanya Shah, Justin Ghaeli, Aditya Kankariya and Hugh Camiener, snapped a five-match losing streak for Columbia and was the first win at the SL Green Streetsquash Center since Dec. 6. As for the clincher, at No. 3, Mann's four-set win gave the Lions the fifth and clinching point in the match.
HOW IT HAPPENED: From top to bottom, Columbia controlled the action on the day and at No. 1, Wyatt knocked off Toby Harding in four sets, winning 11-3, 9-11, 11-9, 11-6. At No. 2, Hall knocked off Brandon De Otaduy in straight sets, 11-2, 11-9, 11-6 and Mann's four-set win (7-11, 11-9, 11-5, 11-7), which included Mann bouncing back from a first-set defeat, gave the Lions a strong 3-0 presence at the top.
At No. 4, Kapur fought off James Bell's effort in the first set, which went 12-10 in favor of Kapur, to take the match in four sets, 12-10, 11-9, 8-11, 11-8. The next two matches, at No. 5 and No. 6, would be straight set sweeps for the Lions, with Shah (No. 5) knocking off Sam Supattapone, 11-6, 11-8, 11-7, and Ghaeli cruising past Tucker Martino, 11-9, 11-8, 11-9.
A true battle took place at No. 8, in what was the longest match of day in terms of sets played, as Kankariya bounced back from dropping sets two and three to beat Lucan White in five sets, 11-9, 3-11, 9-11, 11-6, 11-7, and at No. 9, Camiener locked up his own victory with Columbia's fourth straight-set win, taking down David Rubin, 11-9, 11-4, 11-9, giving Columbia its eight points and a 8-1 win over Dartmouth.
