NEW YORK – Senior midfielder
Orna Madigan scored a game-high and career-high four goals, but the Columbia lacrosse team fell, 19-7, against No. 13 Princeton in the Ivy League opener at Robert K. Kraft Field at Lawrence A. Wien Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Lions move to 0-4 (0-1 Ivy) on the season, while Princeton improves to 3-1 (1-0 Ivy).

After Princeton established a 9-0 lead in the first third of the game, it was Madigan who put the Lions on the board with 11:10 remaining in the first half on a free-position goal. Madigan would add one more before the first period expired, but the Lions would head to the locker room trailing, 14-2.

Both teams notched five goals in the second half as Columbia capitalized on 4-of-5 free-position attempts, including two more from Madigan. The Lions also saw goals from sophomore attacker
Rachel Graff (25:05), junior midfielder
Devon Stuzin (9:01) and junior attacker
Alexandria Absey (2:25).

Payton Lill had a game-high and career-high seven draw controls in the contest, despite Princeton finishing with a 16-11 advantage on draws.

Ryan Schlageter started the contest and played the first 18 minutes before senior
Abby Roberts took over, seeing her first game action of the season. The pair combined for three saves.

Columbia will break from league action, returning home for a mid-week contest against Temple on Wednesday, March 4. Opening draw is set for 3 p.m. from Wien Stadium.
