The first-year won the US Archery Indoor National Championship on the collegiate, junior and JOAD levels
NEW YORK — With the conclusion of the 51st US Archery Indoor National Championships this past weekend, first-year Sachiko Keane officially earned herself the title of collegiate indoor compound champion after posting a collegiate record of 1,171.
Keane also tripled up on the weekend, earning the junior compound title as well as taking the 2020 USA JOAD Indoor title the previous night with a score of 579.
Contested at 13 different regional sites across the United States, the national scores pull from all locations to determine the national winners. Additionally, the top eight qualifiers from each category advance to the National Collegiate Indoor Finals in Louisville, Kentucky, on March 19.
Five Lions earned invitations to the National Collegiate Indoor Finals in Kentucky in two weeks, as first-year Nidhi Kanchumarthi joins Columbia's four top-eight finishers after moving up with some finishers pulling out of the competition.
Keane overcame her teammate and defending Indoor National Champion, Sophia Strachan, to take top national honors in compound with a collegiate indoor record of 1,171, which also reset that previously held by Strachan at 1,162. Strachan also qualifies for the collegiate final, finishing sixth among national contestants.
