This week Nicholas Brisebois of Columbia men's golf is in the spotlight for Fun Fact Friday
Senior Nicholas Brisebois from the Columbia men's golf team is this week's spotlight for Fun Fact Friday. Nicholas needs his coffee and appreciates the ability to focus.
What do you like most about New York City?
I really like New York because there are things that you can see and do that don't exist anywhere else.
What do you like most about your coach?
I believe that he is easily the most passionate of the Ivy League golf coaches. His passion and true love of competition are reflected in his winning record.
How do you prepare for competition?
A coffee is essential at 6 a.m. to get ready for 12 hours on the course.
Best part about competing in your sport?
Its kind of cliché, but golf is one of the ultimate tests of focus and you always have to be 'on' because so much is at stake all the time. For example, in golf you could be having the best game of your entire life and with one bad swing you can undo it all, so it is imperative that you are completely focused at all times.
Favorite sport memory?
Watching Tiger Woods win at the 2019 Masters, but Tiger at the 2008 US Open is a close second.
What were your athletic/academic goals at Columbia?
I wanted to win an Ivy League Championship which we came incredibly close to doing last year, losing by one shot. Unfortunately, we didn't get the chance this year but finished the year as the highest ranked team in the league. I am extremely confident the guys will get it done next year and then I'll just have to live vicariously through them.
Do you have a nickname? If so, how did you get the nickname?
A lot of people call me Breezy, which was originally my grandfather's nickname. He is the one who taught me how to play golf.
What are your hobbies/interests outside of athletics?
I played a lot of hockey growing up, but now without any rink near me I play a lot of basketball (badly).
Favorite movie?
The Dark Knight
What was the last book you read?
'The Art Of War' by Sun Tzu
Favorite musicians?
Kendrick Lamar, Kanye, Foo Fighters
Favorite sports figure?
Tiger Woods
When I was little, I wanted to be ______ when I grew up. (Fill in the blank):
A PGA Tour player
What are your career goals?
I am considering working in Public Health, Health Management or Medicine but haven't really decided yet.
